ABOUT US

Glenn and Reinhild Gamboa have 65 years of shared hospitality experienced in a variety of different venues but all in the San Francisco and Yosemite, California areas.  Reinhild worked the front of the house for Marriott, Hyatt and a variety of sole owner restaurants. Glenn has been cooking all his life and worked for numerous hotels, country clubs, casinos and restaurants.  Glenn was born and raised in Palo Alto, California and Reinhild in Hamburg, Germany.  They opened the Three Sister Cafe in Oakhurst, California (Yosemite) ten years ago and moved to Panama in 2006.  Their family consists of two white bull terries named Xenia and Boudica and, of course, The Three Sisters who are their Vietnamese Pot Bellied Pigs named Carnita, Sate and Barbie-Q; you can see all their photos on this site.

Glenn has been conducting classes for ten years in Yosemite and designs his curriculum to impart the essence of any given cuisine so that students learn to cook “whatever” not recipes.

He stated: "Most foodways of the world are based on scarcity and that’s why I try to teach the holy trinities of components and procedures for each culture". Once you know the basics the ingredients are secondary unless you’re trying to reproduce some classical recipe from the past.  530 million cookbooks are sold yearly in the U.S. including the 20,000 new titles added to the market annually.  We hope to teach the professional nuances that will help you navigate any of these texts you might purchase.
